Since 1985, Scan-Med, Inc. has been the exclusive North American distributor for the Swemed® line of equipment for assisted human reproduction. This long association has been productive for both Scan-Med and past owners of Swemed due to the fact that past ownership has never had a physical presence in the North American market.

In January of 2006, Vitrolife, a global biotechnology group and leader in the field of advanced media for assisted reproductive technology, purchased Swemed. With existing manufacturing facilities in Sweden and their state of the art production facility in Denver, Vitrolife was well positioned for handling the North American market. At that time Scan-Med entered into a two year contract with Vitrolife to continue distributing the Swemed® product line while Vitrolife integrated the manufacturing facilities and familiarized their highly competent sales force of trained embryologist with the Swemed® instrument line.

As this transition period nears its end, Scan-Med, Inc. has made the decision to withdraw from the field of assisted reproduction. Having represented what we feel is the world's finest available instrumentation in this industry for so many years; it was unimaginable to consider representing a competitive product line. Towards that end, Scan-Med and Vitrolife have reached an agreement which will terminate our distribution arrangement with minimal disruption to our customers.

Effective on July 24th, Scan-Med will begin transitioning existing orders, customer history and data to Vitrolife in a coordinated effort to continue to service your facility with the same efficiency and level of service that we have always endeavored to maintain. We will continue on for the next several months to assist Vitrolife with the transition and to help our customers with any difficulties that may be encountered.

The team at Scan-Med wishes to thank all of our customers for the many years of business that you have allowed us to participate in. We have all appreciated the many fine people and programs that we have been privileged to work with over the years. It has been a distinct pleasure to represent such a fine product in a field that brings such a great reward as life.

We trust you will continue your relationship the Swemed® brand through the capable group at Vitrolife's Denver facility.
